We understand that navigating through life's challenges can be overwhelming. We are here to help and have answered frequently asked questions.
Q: Do you see adolescents?
A: Yes, we do. We help anxious test takers, shy/socially worried teens, and more.
Q: Do you offer marriage counseling?
A: Yes! Our licensed professional counselors provide couples and marriage counseling.
Q. What should I do to prepare for my first counseling session at Fit Therapy of Texas?
A. We ask that you please complete the paperwork for new clients ahead of time, and put together a list of any questions you may have, so that your counselor can address them during your session.
Q: Before starting counseling services, do I need to complete a consultation with a counselor?
A: Yes, a consultation is required before starting counseling. A consultation is required as it is an opportunity for you and your counselor to meet each other and decide if they are a good fit for you. This is important because counseling includes a collaborative relationship between the client and counselor. The counselor-client relationship involves the building of rapport and development of openness and trust. If you decide that your counselor is a good fit for you, they will schedule your first counseling session. If they are not a good fit for you, they will provide you with a referral to another counselor that may be a better fit.
Q. What happens at the first counseling session?
A. At the beginning of our first session, your counselor will briefly go over the new client forms and answer any questions you may have. Your counselor will then invite you to share your story and the reason/s you have chosen to attend counseling. At the end of the session, they will reflect on what was shared and assist you in identifying counseling goals.
Q. What happens at future sessions?
A. After your first session, you and your counselor will both have a better understanding of your needs and goals, so you'll will begin to have more focused conversations specifically addressing those areas of most importance to you. At the end of each session, your counselor will reflect on your work together and will recommend homework to continue the work between sessions.
Q. How often will I need counseling?
A. Together, you and your counselor will decide the number of sessions that works best for you. However, we do recommend you begin counseling with weekly sessions. As the session’s progress, you and your counselor will determine the increase or decrease of sessions.
Q. Does Fit Therapy of Texas accept insurance?
